Prashant Lingam is an award-winning social entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in sustainable
innovation. Specializing in low-cost shelters using bamboo, agricultural, and plastic waste, Prashant
founded Bamboo House India to empower rural communities while promoting eco-friendly construction
solutions. His initiatives have led to the creation of over 300 bamboo houses, 100 recycled plastic shelters,
and 25 shelters made from agricultural waste.
Alongside his wife and co-founder, Aruna, Bamboo House India has championed green livelihoods,
empowering marginalized communities, waste-pickers, refugees, sex-workers, SHG women, rural and tribal
artisans to generate sustainable incomes through green & circular economy models.
Recognized globally, his work has been featured in over 1,500 media outlets and adopted by institutions
like Harvard and ISB. He continues to inspire through his leadership in social entrepreneurship and
sustainability.
