Ben Derbyshire is the Non-Executive Chair of HTA Design LLP, a renowned multidisciplinary design practice
specializing in housing and placemaking. With a career dedicated to innovative housing solutions, Ben has
extensively contributed to research on housing performance and suburban intensification strategies. One
of his notable contributions is the ‘Supurbia’ initiative, which explores collective neighbourhood action to
transform suburban areas.
Author of Home Truths, a comprehensive primer on planning and designing sustainable communities, Ben
offers invaluable insights to anyone passionate about creating future-ready, liveable places. During his
tenure as President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) from 2017 to 2019, he championed
